Unlike kits that need to be inoculated and colonised first, most of the growing process has already been done for you. Simply prepare the block for fruiting, keep it in the right conditions and watch your mushrooms grow.

Yes. Spray & Grow Kits are one of the easiest ways to grow gourmet mushrooms at home and require no previous mushroom growing experience. There is no inoculation or lengthy colonisation stage to manage, making them a great choice for beginners or anyone looking for a simple, low-maintenance grow.

Our Spray & Grow range includes several gourmet varieties, including Lion’s Mane, Blue Oyster, Speckled Chestnut, Black Pearl King Oyster, Pink Oyster and Golden Oyster mushrooms. Each kit is already colonised with the mushroom variety you choose and arrives ready to fruit.

No. Each Spray & Grow Kit is already fully colonised with the mycelium of the mushroom variety you have selected, so there is no need to purchase or inject a spore or liquid culture syringe.

The process is generally very simple. Open the perforated panel on the box, make the recommended cut in the grow bag and keep the block humid by misting regularly. The exact cut and care requirements can vary between mushroom species, so always follow the instructions for the kit you are growing.

Because the blocks arrive fully colonised, you can skip the inoculation and colonisation stages. Depending on the mushroom variety and growing conditions, mushrooms can begin fruiting within around 1–2 weeks, with mature mushrooms following shortly afterwards. For example, Blue Oyster mushrooms can be ready to harvest in as early as 10 days.

The ideal temperature depends on the mushroom variety you are growing, so always check the requirements for your chosen kit. For example, Blue Oyster mushrooms prefer around 15–20°C, while Lion’s Mane can fruit at around 15–25°C.

Generally, Spray & Grow Kits need high humidity, plenty of fresh air exchange and indirect or ambient light. Regular misting helps maintain the humid environment needed for healthy mushroom development.

Yields vary depending on the mushroom variety, growing conditions and how well the block is cared for. Our Lion’s Mane and Blue Oyster kits, for example, are designed to produce up to around 700g of fresh mushrooms, with harvests potentially produced over several flushes.

We recommend starting your Spray & Grow Kit soon after receiving it. If you’re not ready to use it straight away, keep the grow bag refrigerated until you are ready to begin. When stored correctly in the fridge, the kits can be kept for an extended period.
